Welcome to Paediatric Eye Centre in Mandeville, Manchester. Dr. Cardice Riley-Ricketts and her eye-care team strive to provide the finest eye care for the developing eye. History of the Practice
As a mother of 4, Dr. Cardice Riley-Ricketts completely understands the importance of early eye-care. Also, the energy that kids bring spurred her to establish a dedicated paediatric practice, though she already had established eye-care practices operating in Central Jamaica.
The children’s vivacity were a welcome way to spend an otherwise dull Friday afternoon. Founded in 1998, the practice grew as her children grew. Set at Grove Court Medical Centre it featured a dedicated play room fully equipped with crawl tunnels and toys and even it's own mascot; Ricky the Rabbit. In January 2009, the Paediatric Eye Centre matured to it’s current location at Midway Mall, just as lively and fun with board games, a foosball table, puzzles and children's magazines to engage the kids during their wait.
Our Approach to Optometry
Our multi-disciplinary approach to paediatric eye-care integrates a detailed assessment of the visual system with primary level evaluations of perceptual, cognitive, tactile, and auditory development. This holistic approach offers a greater opportunity to detect the true cause of developmental challenges a child may be encountering. This leads us to work closely with medical practitioners and educators.
Our practice offers the following services: complete eye exams, contact lenses, glasses, glaucoma testing, and pre- and post-operative care for eye-turns (strabismus) and cataracts. Our developmental centre offers physical growth tracking, perceptual testing and reading classes.
